Characteristics of Adult Learners: Experiential Learning Theory

The Theory of Experiential Learning in adult education interests me because it emphasizes the role experience plays in the learning process. David Kolb’s Experiential Learning Cycle consists of four stages: the concrete experience stage, reflective observation, abstract conceptualization, and active experimentation. I selected this link to the University of Leicester’s website for future use as it describes Kolb’s theory and also provides lists of teaching activities for each stage. This resource will help to improve my instruction because I can refer to the model and use the teaching strategies to create experiential lessons for more meaningful learning.
